About this event

Have you always wanted to learn to weld?

Moy-Yan Neighbourhood House, and Weld Like a Girl founder, Jen Belsar, bring you this exciting workshop to be held at 1 Beswick St Garfield.

This 6 Week workshop will teach you the basics of welding, metal sculpting and the safe use of power tools.

Some of the projects you'll be able to create are: sculptures, planters, signs etc.. the list is only limited by your imagination. You can also fix those household items that are lying around.

The workshop is limited to 6 students only.

As a lifelong artist with a love of timber and steel Jen has been teaching beginners for many years now and it's great fun! You'll be amazed at how quickly you pick up the skills, in fact you'll wonder how you ever survived without these skills!

All steel and welding equipment provided but you're welcome to bring along any interesting pieces of steel or stainless steel that you might like to use in your project.

If you have any power tools at home that you're not sure how to use, you can bring them along for me to teach you how to use them. The workshop will run for 6 weeks from 3.30 - 5.30 on a Wednesday night.

Student reviews:"Just had an incredible weekend learning to weld at Hammerhead Gallery in Korumburra. I learnt so much during this two day course and met lovely people who love rusty stuff as much as I do. I've been meaning to learn to weld for a couple of decades, but for a myriad of reasons always felt a little intimidated. I wish I'd been to this class 20 years ago!! Such a relaxed learning environment surrounded by beautiful gardens and birds, max class size of four (so lots of time to get help from awesome teacher Jen). Fabulous. Once everyone got their first weld done we were all off and running. Nerves behind us. Endless possibilities ahead!Highly recommend."Ingrid Brooker

Brilliant weekend of crafting on steroids, certainly 'sparked' my imagination!Vivienne Halat

Thanks so much Jen. I had such an awesome time learning not to be afraid to get in there and have a go. This is the start of the journey.Nicole Lucas
