About this event

Want to learn the basics of playing an acoustic guitar? Join these free workshops to learn how to play notes, simple scales, hand positioning, plectrum exercises, simple chord progressions and how to play in a musical key.

Bring your own acoustic guitar along or reserve one in advance from our Musical Instrument Collection. The workshops are being taught by Vincent Huynh, a theatre performer who graduated from the Australian Institute of Music in 2022. As a musician, he began playing piano at age 6 and then taught himself to play guitar from age 10. Vincent currently teaches music at G Major Studios based in Hurstville.

This is a class primarily for beginners but if you have played before and have an interest in guitar you are more than welcome to attend and there will be some intermediate exercises provided for you to learn.

Cost: Free

Age: 16+

Experience: No previous experience necessary.

Equipment: Participants must bring their own guitar.

Spaces are limited so bookings are essential. As there are 6 workshops you will have to register for all of them individually.
