Description

The Essential Services Commission has released a new proposed payment difficulty framework, to assist people struggling with energy bills. Submissions are due by 16 June 2017.

At the moment, the Energy Retail Code sets out a framework for assisting customers in hardship. Following an inquiry, the ESC proposed changes to this framework, which it set out in a draft decision in October 2016. In response to feedback from the community sector and energy retailers, the ESC has substantially revised its proposed framework.

The consultation will explore the new framework and hear your views, to inform VCOSS’s submission to the ESC.
