OBJECTIVES


  1. Identify the key bony landmarks of the pelvis and understand how these are used to identify postural asymmetries
  2. Demonstrate the assessment process for defining reducible postural asymmetries
  3. Demonstrate ROM measurements in relation to seated posture
  4. Identify postural points of control in relation to product parameters


This course is a practical introduction or refresher into the Mechanical Assessment Tool (MAT). The focus of this session is recognising reducible vs non-reducible asymmetries. The 3 parts of the MAT will be explained, demonstrated and practiced. Considerations of completing this assessment within someone’s home environment will be discussed and practical strategies will be provided during the practical session. This session will aim to increase your understanding and confidence when completing the MAT and demonstrate how to use this information/assessment within your practice. Come along prepared to complete a full MAT on a peer and have a MAT completed on you. Wear comfortable clothing and please bring a yoga mat if you have one.

Registration / arrival from 8:45am with an 9am start.

FREE to therapists to attend

3.5 hours awarded for CPD

All attendees will receive a certificate and summary hand out

Tilly Brook MOccThy (Hons) (OT)

Director - Clinical Services

Tilly Brook – Director of Clinical Services has extensive experience working as an Occupational Therapists within wheelchair and seating in Australia, New Zealand, and Singapore. Her passion for this area of practice started whilst working in Brain Injury Rehabilitation and continued to grow from there. Tilly has assisted in the development of clinical teams, and now focuses on upskilling, education, mentoring and developing best practice guidelines for clinicians in the field. Tilly holds a Bachelor of Health Science and a Masters of Occupational Therapy (Hons). When Tilly is not working, you will find her spending time with her family and planning the next travel adventure!
