About this event

Anthony (Anthony Hopkins) is a sprightly 80-years-young, and has been mischievously and defiantly living alone as he continues to reject the carers that his daughter (Olivia Colman) has been hiring. Unfortunately, help is quickly becoming a necessity, as Anthony’s grip on reality slowly unravels. With his dementia beginning to take hold, he begins doubting not just his own mind, but his loved ones too.

After so many indelible roles over a career spanning more than five decades, audiences have to come to expect great acting from Sir Anthony Hopkins. And yet, at 83 years of age, he continues to surprise by delivering one of his best performances yet in this film.

Adapting his own 2012 play for the big screen, French writer-director Florian Zeller bravely demonstrates the deteriorating effects of dementia by putting the audience inside Anthony’s head, as we experience the ebb and flow of his memory first hand. Nominated for six Oscars, including Best Picture, this is a heartbreaking and uncompromising depiction of old age.
