2018 ACTEBA Open Singles State Championships

The Open Singles event this year is a knockout event as per the following details:

REGISTRATIONS ONLY THROUGH EVENTBRITE - DO NOT TRANSFER DIRECTLY TO ACTEBA

• Qualifying Weekend (round robin) - Date 17th & 18th of February 2018 - Players ranked outside the top 48 will need to qualify for the Main 96 Player draw (you will only be required to play on 1 day of this weekend)
• Main event (96 player draw) - Date 6th - 8th April 2018 (6 matches will be played Friday evening @ 7.30pm) - Entrants ranked inside the Top 48 will automatically go into the main draw and will not have to play on the qualifying weekend.
• Open to ACTEBA Members
• Single Elimination knockout format – Race to 8 (increasing later in the Tournament)
• Venue – Harmonie German Club
• 32 Seeds based on current rankings dated September 2017
• $30 Entry + admin fee
• 12 tables to be used for the event
• Winner & Runner-up qualify for the ACT Open State Team (and are not permitted to play in selection trials)
• Winner & Runner-up only receive rankings points
• Prize money will be distributed as per below table

Note:

Play commences at 7.30pm on the Friday Night (1st 6 matches...... these players will have a later start on Saturday). Saturday and Sunday's play will commence at 9.30am and go through till the evening.... exact times will be provided to all players once draw is complete.

Please be aware this will be a reasonably long Tournament......Last matches on Saturday expected to start at 7pm..... Grand final on Sunday expected to start around 7pm as well. There will be long waits between matches (between 3 - 5 hours on Saturday), which will give players opportunity to get lunch, relax etc........

Draw will be completed the Monday before the event starts and will be either done publicly at the Harmonie German Club or will be streamed live.

ENTRIES CLOSE MONDAY 5th OF FEBRUARY 2018.

If there are late withdrawals, that spot will be offered to next player who did not qualify to ensure a full 96 player draw.

1st - 45% - $1,296

2nd - 25% - $720

3rd & 4th - 17% - $244.80 Each

5th - 8th - 13% - $93.60 Each

CONDITIONS OF ENTRY

• Anyone who has entered or intends on entering the selection trials of another state or territory will be ineligible to compete in the ACT selection trials.
• Entries for the Open Singles are close 5/2/18
• The format, dates and prize money for the event have been based on an expected number of entries being received. The Tournament Director reserves the right to vary both the format,dates and prize money should this become necessary.
• Seeds will be taken strictly from the ACTEBA rankings as at Sept 2017.
• All entries are accepted under the provision that the entrant agrees to abide by all and any directions made by the Tournament Director and that their decisions will be final.
• Note that if you are selected to represent the ACT at the 2018 National titles you will be required to pay a deposit of $300.00 within 2 weeks of notification of your selection. If you do not pay your deposit within 2 weeks your place will be offered to the next eligible player.
• The draws will be e-mailed to all competitors who have provided an email address, and will also be available on the ACTEBA website (acteba.com.au) and Facebook page. Competitors will NOT be notified by phone. It is each player’s responsibility to ensure they are aware of what time their match is on. If you don’t have email, then make sure you contact the Tournament Director!
