About this event

  • Event lasts 2 days 1 hour

Welcome to the 2024 Australian Vascular Biology Society (AVBS) Annual Scientific Meeting! Join us for three days filled with exciting discussions, presentations and networking opportunities with fellow vascular biology enthusiasts. The event will take place from Wednesday 16th to Friday 18th of October, 2024 at Mantra Lorne. This beautiful location will be perfect for sparking inspiration and collaboration.

This year the AVBS will be having a stand-alone meeting, allowing us to focus on cutting edge science pertinent to vascular biology. We will continue our strong tradition of fostering research communication between scientists, clinicians and students from a broad range of disciplines, with a unifying interest in vascular biology. We are delighted to announce that Prof. Muredach Reilly of Columbia University, USA will be joining us as an esteemed international guest and speaker at the meeting.

Overall, there will be six major themes: 1) Inflammation & Immunity, 2) Developmental Biology, 3) Cardiovascular, 4) Cerebrovascular, 5) Lymphatics and 6) Tumour Vasculature, along with ‘Hot Topics’, Student/ERC Awards and Flash Talks. These have been selected to reflect the most important aspects of vascular biology where Australia has leading research programs, which will make for a diverse and stimulating conference.

Our intent is for this to be a very interactive conference. We expect over 80 participants in a venue that allows for all delegates to stay together for the 3-day meeting. We have chosen Lorne (https://www.mantralorne.com.au) as our venue, which is a picturesque town along the famous Great Ocean Road, offering conference attendees a serene coastal setting with opportunities for relaxation and exploration amidst its historic charm. The relaxed coastal environment will be sure to foster scientific creativity. There will also be student/EMCR networking events in a relaxed social setting, breaking down the barriers enabling free-flowing conversations with experts in your field of research.

Don't miss out on this chance to learn from experts in the field and connect with like-minded individuals. We can't wait to see you there!
