Tatu – Multidisciplinary Artist & Visual Storyteller
Hi, I’m Tatu, and this is probably the fifth time I’ve written my artist bio—because every time I’ve tried, it didn’t quite feel like me.
Some days, I want to call myself a cosmic messenger, creating only when I’m in tune with the universe. And while that’s sometimes true, other days, art is simply about showing up and doing the work—because, well, rent exists.
If I were to follow the usual format, I’d say I’m a multidisciplinary artist and illustrator with a Bachelor of Illustration from Melbourne Polytechnic—a fact that makes my parents proud (and me, because it makes them happy). I could also mention that I’ve painted murals, exhibited in galleries, and worked across different mediums.
But beyond the labels, I’m simply a storyteller. I feel, I observe, and I translate emotions into visuals. Born in Colombia, where magic collides with reality, and having spent my adult life in Australia, on Lands rich with history and diversity, my work is deeply rooted in the fusion of cultures, nature, and spirituality.
I’m fascinated by the beauty of the everyday, and I embrace art as a lifelong journey of learning and exploration. My style, like my perspective, is always evolving—just as it should be.
Let’s see where the next chapter takes us
