This is an immersive full-day workshop where I (Jacquie) will share with you ways I take ideas/experiences into a creative body of work. We will experiement with various techniques and materials in building a 'toolkit' of abstract painting to apply to your own practice. It will be a small group. All materials and lunch provided.

I will draw on over a decade of artmaking and teaching experience to share with you as much as I can to enrich YOUR artmaking and creative life.

Would love to see you there! Feel free to email with any questions jacquelinescotcher@gmail.com or read about my practice jacquelinescotcher.com

Location: is my home art studio, Mcleans Ridges Northnern NSW (25km inland from Byron Bay). It is about a 10min country-road drive from Lismore.

What we will cover:

  • Experimenting with various acrylic mediums & integrating drawing materials
  • Ways to take your experiences into abstract shape & line
  • Layering surfaces to build visual interest and depth
  • Push & pull colour theory
  • Examples of how I take an idea through to a completed body of work

You will leave with:

  • A series of experiement swatches that you can journal
  • Two small abstract paintings on unstretched canvas born out of your experimentation (ready to frame or pin up)
  • A strategy to build your own abstract practice
  • New skills & creative inspiration

What to bring:

  • A journal for notetaking
  • Apron or old shirt to protect clothing

Best suited for:

  • Ideal for those with a base art practice, wanting to deepen their work through a new perspective
  • No abstract or acrylic painting experience necessary, will be a warm and open space for learning & experimentation
  • Anyone interested in starting or developing an art practice in acrylic painting techniques
  • All welcome, due to the small group I can provide some individual guidance

Food & Drink:

Tea, Coffee & snack on arrival

Fridge with water in studio

Lunch of sandwiches & charcuterie provided. Will cover dietary requirements.

Bonus:

You will receive a $50 discount code to my full 'Forge your Creative Path' online course & community. Where you can continue in developing your practice, you can do this with the self-paced online format, where I have monthly Q&A support.
