Welcome to Arangetram!

On behalf of NrityaNiketan School of Dance, Guru Smt. Neeta Sura will be presenting 5 of her students, Anoushka Nair, Anuva Nadkar, Nidhi Parkale, Reeva Nadkar and Tanisha Nagwekar, to the audience for the first time in a full-fledged Bharatnatyam recital, the Arangetram.

Bharatanatyam is an ancient Indian Classical dance form, originating from Tamil Nadu. It is based on the Natya Shastra (foundations of Indian performing arts) written by Bharat Munni over 2000 years ago. Arangetram translates to “ascending on stage”. On the completion of a margam (a set of dance items performed in the traditional order), and at the discretion of their Guru, a dancer is first presented to the audience.
