About this event

'Art in the Park' is coming to Naracoorte Caves!

Join world renowned Botanical Scientific Illustrator Gilbert RM DASHORST in a workshop of recording our famous fossils in lead pencil. Gilbert was the scientific illustrator at the State Herbarium, BGA, for 30 years illustrating botanical subject matter for State, National and International scientific publications.

Gilbert will guide you through the process of observing the fossil and then illustrate it so that you would be proud to hang it on your wall.

Help celebrate the Naracoorte Caves 30th anniversary of World Heritage listing with this amazing event!

While an all ages event, it is best suited for those 6+ in age.

This event was organised as part of the National Parks and Wildlife Service Park of the Month program.

Frequently asked questions

Where is the event being held?

The event is being held at Naracoorte Caves National Park, with the activity itself being held in the park's on-site laboratory. This building is air conditioned and has toilet facilities, but you cannot bring food or drink (other than water) inside.

Where do we meet for the event?

Please meet at the Wonambi Visitor Centre just before the session is set to start. A Naracoorte Caves staff member will either accompany you or provide directions to the laboratory.

What do I need to bring?

As the event is indoors, all you need to bring is a keen eye for detail and a desire to learn more about drawing!
