Frequently asked questions

What support is there after the workshop?

After the workshop, we set up a group to share our baking for those who want to. I provide feedback and tips until you're up and running. You can also contact me directly. Most people stay in the group until they have made their first few loaves, but I'm still in touch with some people years later!

What if I forget what to do?

Don't worry you'll have detailed notes. We'll bake our first couple of loaves at home together, connecting online if you would like to, and I'll send reminders of what to do next.

What if my sourdough starter dies?

We'll spend plenty of time at the workshop discussing how to look after your starter (including when you're away) and most people manage pretty well. But I'll be happy to give you some more if you need it!

Are Eventbrite fees included in the ticket price?

Yes, the ticket price includes Eventbrite fees

Is there parking?

The workshop is run in my home, in a quiet, leafy, suburban area. There is on street parking and I have very nice neighbours.

Can I get there by public transport?

Driving is quicker, but we are a short walk from Eastern Valley Way, which has regular buses from the City and Northern Beaches. We may also be able to arrange a lift from Chatswood Station, which is a few minutes' drive away. Please contact the organiser for details.

Is there wheelchair access?

There are stairs to the front door and kitchen, so unfortunately it is not wheelchair accessible. I can offer a private workshop at your premises instead.

Is the workshop suitable for children?

The public workshop is pitched at adults, although ages have ranged from 12 to 86. I'm also happy to run children's or family workshops on request.

Is the workshop suitable for special diets (e.g. vegan, dairy free, low gluten )?

Our sourdough bread is suitable for vegan and dairy free diets, as it contains no dairy or other animal products. We offer butter with refreshments, but can replace with olive oil on request. Our sourdough bread is low in gluten but we do use wheat flour which is not suitable for coeliac.
