About this event

  • Event lasts 3 hours

Heartwood Nature Bathing warmly offers a special 3-hour basket weaving workshop

You will learn to weave the 'wheat ear' stitch' using premium hand-dyed raffia. (Check my other events for other stitch styles; more are added regularly!)

No prior experience is needed for this experience, which will help you cultivate a sense of calm, creativity and connection.

Where?

This small group experience takes place at the beautiful Sherwood Arboretum in Brisbane/Meanjin, on Turrbal and Jagera country.

Ample parking is available on site.

Details of where to meet on the day will be provided via email 48 hours prior to the event - please ensure you use the correct email to register!

What to expect?

This event has a maximum of 10 participants, and is suitable for people 12 years and over.

We will use raffia, and weave in a coil style. This style involves wrapping around an inner core, and creating patterns using 'wheat stitches'.

No prior experience is necessary and all materials are provided.

You can expect to weave a small basket or coaster in this session, and you will take home the skills needed to complete larger projects. This includes shaping, and finishing your work.

This is a very gentle experience; you can expect to travel no further than 1km from the carpark to our weaving location. The route is manageable for all fitness levels, as well as assisted wheelchair users.

If you have any accessibility or mobility concerns, please don't hesitate to get in touch.

However, if I am able to re-sell your spot to another participant, a full refund (excluding the Eventbrite fee) will be provided.

If an event is affected by inclement weather, or cancelled by the organiser, a full refund will be issued.
