Workshop Overview

In this workshop we will challenge the idea of human-centred design by exploring what happens when humans are no longer the dominant force in their environment. How might we rethink our role if we are just one part of a larger network, interconnected with technology, nature and other beings? This workshop aims to broaden our understanding of design by exploring multi-centred approaches, considering all human bodies, machines and objects as equal participants. We will engage in a co-design process that allows us to connect more deeply with non-human technologies and nature. By designing speculative 'future organs', we will imagine new ways of experiencing and engaging with our surroundings, fostering a more inclusive, interconnected future for humans, technology and the environment.

Who Should Attend

This workshop welcomes researchers, designers, artists and the curious. Anyone interested in areas such as alternative perception, wearable technology, speculative design, more-than-human design, innovative human-technology interfaces, human-computer interaction, sensory augmentation, ethical implications of technology and society, or non-anthropocentric theories.
