What to Expect:

  • Guided Bird Walks led by knowledgeable and friendly guides who will introduce you to a variety of local bird species. They’ll share tips for identifying birds by sight and sound, pointing out unique bird behaviors, and helping you make the most of your time in nature.
  • Binoculars Provided: Don’t have your own binoculars? No worries! We offer a variety to borrow, so you can find one that suits you best. For participants who may have sensory sensitivities, we’ll help find a comfortable setup for viewing.
  • Spectrum-Friendly Activities: We understand that each person engages with nature differently. Our event includes hands-on activities like checklists for spotting birds, journals for drawing or writing about your experiences, and quiet areas for when you need a breather.
  • Nature Connection Stations: Enjoy optional stops along the trails where you can learn about bird habitats, try your hand at photography, or simply take in the wetlands’ peaceful surroundings.

What to Bring:

  • Comfortable walking shoes and weather-appropriate clothing
  • A small backpack for water, snacks, and any personal items
  • A guardian or companion if you’re under 18

In this workshop, we'll teach you the basics of bird identification, and provide hands-on instruction on using popular birding apps and binoculars to enhance your birding skills. Our experienced instructors will share their knowledge and enthusiasm for birding, and help you learn to identify common bird species by sight and sound. This event is perfect for bird enthusiasts of all levels, from beginners to experienced birders. Best of all, this workshop is completely free and open to the public!
