About this event

  • Event lasts 2 hours

“This immersive project is a welcome opportunity to creatively meditate upon the positive rather than, as I have so often done in the past, the dark side of environmental/socio-political issues. Turning away from disturbing news, the focus is on interconnectedness, tenderness, beauty, joy, curiosity - the sublime.” Bonita Ely

Bonita Ely’s archival exhibition invites viewers to experience the world through the artist's eyes. Featuring a rich collection of images, documents, and videos gathered over years of research, this showcase illuminates her dedication to socially engaged art. The exhibition highlights Ely's unique method of incorporating research into her creative process, offering a rare glimpse into the foundation of her distinctive artistic practice.

Ely's work examines the ways in which archives, both personal and public, shape our understanding of history, identity, and the environment. This exhibition transforms the projection cube into a living, breathing archive, immersing visitors in a multi-sensory experience that bridges past and present.

The 360-degree projection cube will envelop visitors in Ely's archival photographs, documents, and artifacts collected during her research journeys.

Ely's work is deeply rooted in environmental activism. This exhibition highlights the interconnection between archives and ecological awareness, illustrating how historical records can inform contemporary environmental discourse. Visitors will encounter stories of land, water, and community, underscoring the ongoing relationship between human activity and the natural world.
