Book Release: Glenn Martin’s latest book

Glenn’s 24th book is called "The Sailor, The Baron And The Dressmaker". Find out about this extraordinary story from Glenn’s family tree. A young German sailor, Siegfried Hottelmann, came to Australia in 1928, and spent two years in Australia and New Zealand, including joining Wirth’s Circus as an elephant handler. Then he returned to Germany, but left again in 1936, during the rise of Hitler. He returned to Australia as a seaman, deserting ship in Adelaide. Travelling up to Sydney, he met Glenn Martin’s father’s cousin, Ellen Royall, and they were married in July 1939 after a lightning romance. Siegfried was arrested in 1940 and sent to Tatura, an internment camp in Victoria. Ellen joined him, to discover that back in Germany, he was Baron von Einsiedel. But after the war they remained in Australia, and Siegfried returned to being a seaman.
