Bush Rangers Parklands Dash - 25th June 2016
Date and time
Location
Parklands Forest Reserve
Radar Hill Road Kulangoor, QLD 4560 AustraliaDescription
Welcome to the Parklands Dash Experiment 2016
Timetable
- Registration opens at 9.20am
- Ride briefing at 9.50am
- Ride starts at 10.00am
Race Format
The ride will be similar to the alleycat style format that originated with the bike messenger community in the USA.
- Go to the registration desk and draw your card.
- During the ride briefing everyone will get a map with the checkpoints on it. You must get to each checkpoint and get your card stamped. Then bring your completed card back to the registration tent.
- You can get to the checkpoints whichever way you like and in any order you like (but you must stick to trails and fire roads). You may have to do a task at the checkpoint before getting your stamp.
- Whoever draws the Joker will have an advantage to do with what they will. The holder of the Joker will be given the checkpoints early and given a head start.
Location and parking
We will be at the clearing at the end of Radar Hill road where the bitumen stops - https://goo.gl/maps/eqk2m1Dw7H62.
There is plenty of parking alongside the road but don't park back in the QPWS carpark (it's a condition of the QPWS event permit).
We will set up the tent in the clearing and this will be where the ride will start and finish.
Drinks
I'll give the President my sad puppy look and get him to get some drinks.
Other information
You must have current MTBA membership so you and the club is covered by insurance.
This is an experiment and I'm basically using you all as guinea pigs so we can see how this works and what changes we want to make so please give me your feedback. There is a lot of room in this format for adding in fun and challenging features and I hope to grow it into a big event open to all riders who think they are up for it!
