Camerata in Concert will feature a 17-piece orchestra and a joyous program with works by Tchaikovsky, Ravel, Bloch, and more, including a brand new composition by Camerata's 2025 Emerging Composer-in-Residence, Abigail Lui. Camerata will also be joined for some encores by local performers and community musicians.
Camerata is delighted to premiere Lui’s piece in regional Queensland, following a long tradition of local audiences loving new music commissioned by Camerata, previously based on the Fraser Coast, Banana Shire, Emerald, Winton in Western Queensland, and more. This year, Lui’s work is inspired by her recent trip exploring the Southern Downs regions, including Warwick and Allora, conjuring evocative soundscapes in an exciting new work for string orchestra.
Performing without a conductor, the two-time Helpmann Award nominated ensemble has established itself as a chamber orchestra of national significance. Known for their innovative and adventurous programming, Camerata thrives on collaborations with artists across a range of artforms and delights in working and performing with local musicians of any age and experience.
Don’t miss this one-night-only concert.
