This will be a night where you can step into the pages of your favourite books and immerse yourself in a world of fantasy, magic, and wonder. Unlike other balls ... this is the one where universes collide and no matter what fantasy fiction work you prefer you can dress as your favourite character.

CHARITY

For each event, we partner with a different charity that resonates with our attendees. For Brisbane 2025, we conducted a poll featuring various charities close to our hearts. It was a tough choice, as all the organisations are truly deserving of additional support. After careful consideration, we are proud to announce that this year we will be donating to the Australian Literacy and Numeracy Foundation (ALNF) as our chosen charity.

The Australian Literacy and Numeracy Foundation (ALNF), established in 1999, is a national charity assisting people in our most marginalised communities to gain vital language, literacy and communication skills. ALNF’s specialised and innovative programs address the needs of a diverse range of individuals and communities – specifically supporting First Nations, refugee and other vulnerable Australians.

ALNF believes that literacy is freedom- literacy allows individuals to access education, participate meaningfully in our society and to have a voice. It is a basic human right.

I have a food allergy/ requirement or don't drink alcohol is this ok?

Yes! Our venue caters for food allergies please add this to your check out tickets. There will be non-alcoholic options served as well.

Is there wheelchair access at City Hall.

Yes!

What are the age requirements?

As this is a licenced event, you must be 18 years to attend. But there is no limit to your age - even if you are in your 70's and love fantasy then there is a place for you!

Do I need to show ID on arrival?

Yes your ticket needs to be the name on your ID and you must be over 18 years old to attend.

Where is the afterparty?

This will be announced to the ticket holders prior to the event. It is a short walk from the ball.

Where is the official hotel?

Do I need to stay at the hotel?

No - this is just super handy as it is right near all the events and a great spot to catch up with new friends.

I am coming alone is that ok and I don't know how to dance and I'm shy?

That is all fine! Lots of solo attendees are expected, and there will be lots of fun activities so you will never feel alone! We also have designated "solo attendee" areas where you can meet with other solo attendees and make new friends.

What is the dress code?

Elegant cocktail attire or your favourite Starfall-inspired ballgown or lounge suit. Cosplay is welcome, or you can simply be inspired by a particular fantasy aesthetic. Please note no replica or real weapons are allowed. And dress hoop size must be 2 bars or less.

Do I have to dress as a character? Is Cosplay required?

You absolutely can dress up and cosplay, and we would love to see some wings and ballgowns in character. But you do not have to! Just make sure you feel amazing, so wear something that makes you feel great!

What is the weapon policy?

The venue has stipulated no replica weapons will be permitted ... so you will need to leave these ones behind please on this occasion.

What if it is raining?

The show will go on rail, hail or shine!

Can I get a refund?

This is a no-refund event but you can re-sell via TIXEL.

How many tickets are there?

Approx 800 tickets

What if I miss out?

There is a waitlist and there are ALWAYS people who can't make it for some reason, so please keep checking TIXEL for official re-sale tickets.

When do tickets go on sale?

Credit card is accepted via Eventbrite - and you can choose to pay-in-four with Paypal at checkout.

Is this a sit down dinner?

No this is a cocktail-style standing event - so we can move around and dance! You will be served cool canapes, larger style hot canapes and hot fork dishes - plenty of food and drinks will circulate all night.

What is the Liability Disclaimer?

By purchasing a ticket the Ticket Holder accepts that the Event Manager / Host has no liability in respect of any personal injury or loss of personal property occasioned to or by the Ticket Holder whilst attending or in transit from the Ball to the After Party.

Is there a ball each year?

This is the only ball planned for Brisbane at this stage, however Celestial Events are run all around Australia so make sure you follow us on Eventbrite and other social media platforms for the most up to date information about our upcoming events.

Is this an official publisher affiliated event?

Celestial Events draws inspiration from lots of fav fantasy books but is in no way affiliated with any one publisher. This is entirely fantasy fan-based fun.

Will there be volunteers to assist me at the ball?

Yes we have a team of volunteers and professional medical team onsite to assist.

Is this part of a festival? What else is happening?

Yes this is part of the Celestial Festival annual event in Brisbane. The festival will run from 18th - 24th June. There will be a variety of free and paid events, from book binding, to paint and sip, high tea, axe throwing etc there will be something for everyone. More info to follow.

What does it mean that there is a trademark symbol with the words "Starfall Ball"

A trade mark is a type of intellectual property (IP) right which distinguishes our unique service from other competitors in the market.

Is this a licensed Sarah J Maas event?

No this is not a SJMaas licensed event. The Celestial Event Balls take general inspiration from the fantasy realm.

I have a hidden disability who should I inform?

When you check out, please fill in any details in the mobility or hidden disability field. We recommend wearing your Sunflower Hidden Disability lanyard; we will also have a limited supply available for loan on the night. The more information you provide, the more helpful we can be.

Are there any other tips for coming alone?

Volunteers will hand out glow bracelets to those attending alone, making it easy to identify others who are also solo and looking for friends. This also encourages other guests to come over & say hello. Additionally, we always have a "solo-couch area" as a general meeting place for solo attendees.

Trades and Gifting

Celestial Events have become quite famous for trades (swapping bracelets and handmade trinkets). Please note if you bring trades and or/gifts for event host Carly or the event management team it may be retained but at discretion it may also be traded within the community to someone else in need.

Is Sarah J Maas attending or part of any of this event (book signing etc)

No. This is a general fantasy event with no direct affiliation to Sarah J Maas or the publishing house.

Are Afterparty Only tickets available?

No. The afterparty is limited to the Nightcourt only tickets and are not sold separately. Guests with Starfall tickets will not be able to access the private area of the afterparty.

What Charity do you support

After thoughtful deliberation, we are proud to announce that this year’s donations will go to the Australian Literacy and Numeracy Foundation (ALNF) as our selected charity. We also provide ongoing support to Ecologi, and you can track our support here https://ecologi.com/celestialeventsaus

How do you look after sensory needs?

The main auditorium will feature loud music & non-flashing lights, however you are welcome to step into the foyer or King George Square throughout the night for a quieter experience. The foyer will have calming string music, & our volunteers will be on hand with sensory packs if you need assistance.

Is there a pre-check in available?

Attendees of the Fantasy Book Signing Day (you must have a ticket for this event) can pre-check in for the ball. A wrist band will be fixed to the ball attendees wrist to be kept on up until the ball and for the duration of the ball. Pre-check in is not obligatory, it saves time on arrival.
