    Join us for an engaging Cyber Industry Forum to unpack ACT and Federal Government cyber priorities on Tuesday, 6 August 2024.

    Chris Crozier, CIO, Defence Digital Group, Department of Defence, and Julian Valtas, CISO, Digital, Data and Technology Solutions, Chief Minister, Treasury and Economic Development Directorate, ACT Government will share their cyber roadmap for the next 12-18 months including challenges faces, approaches to AI driven cyber-attack mitigation, capabilities they are interested in acquiring and how cyber SMEs contribute to the future of Australian cyber security.

    Keynote presentations will be followed by a panel discussion and Q&A led by Air Vice Marshal Neil Hart (ret'd), Director, Canberra Cyber Hub.

    Speaker Bios:

    Chris Crozier - Chief Information Officer, Department of Defence
    Mr Chris Crozier was recently appointed Chief Information Officer, leading the Defence Digital Group at Defence.

    Prior to joining Defence, Mr Crozier was the Group Chief Information Officer for Orica International, the world’s largest manufacturer and supplier of explosives for mining and civil construction.

    As the Group Chief Information Officer, Mr Crozier was accountable for global digital technology strategies and operations across a footprint of the organisation spanning 120 countries, covering Business (IT), Customer (IoT) and Manufacturing (OT) systems, including the governance of Orica’s digital ecosystems, architecture, data, and cyber posture.

    Prior to this, Mr Crozier held executive roles within Orica as Vice President of AusPac (60% of Orica’s global EBIT), Chief Digital Officer and Global Vice President Supply Chain; and BHP as Global Chief Information Officer and Global Chief Procurement Officer.

    As a 35-year veteran of the Mining and Resources Sector, having commenced his professional life with Rio Tinto as a Research Engineer, Mr Crozier has experienced the highs and lows of the commodity cycle. He has worked in Asia for more than 25 years, residing in Singapore for 18 years.

    Mr Crozier has a Chemical Engineering Degree (Honours First Class) and Master of Business Administration. In his spare time, Mr Crozier enjoys endurance sports, including cycling, running and swimming.

    Julian Valtas - Chief Information Security Officer, ACT Government
    Mr Julian Valtas is a cyber security professional with over 20 years experience in the ICT Industry and public sector. Julian has held senior leadership roles in cyber security for over a decade. HIs current role is the Chief Information Security Officer for the ACT Government, where he led the establishment of the ACT Cyber Security Centre.

    Whilst very much currently focused on improving cyber maturity, engaging with business and influencing positive cyber culture, awareness and outcomes, Julian also has a strong background in architecture and operations.

    He is continuing to embrace learning at all stages in his career with a new focus on risk, having recently completed both CRISC and the Australian Government IRAP assessor program.


    Air Vice-Marshal (ret) Neil Hart AM
    Neil has held senior leadership, command and operations management roles, developing his expertise in all aspects of air, space, information, cyber and electronic warfare. He has held senior appointments in the Australian Defence Force including Deputy Chief of Air Force, Head Joint Capabilities, and Head of the Force Structure for the 2016 Defence White Paper.

    Neil continues to work in technology, industry and national security as a strategy advisor, as well as being a Board Director and continues in the Air Force Reserve as Chair of the ADF Airworthiness Operational Panel.
