About this event

  • Event lasts 3 hours

Last year you came, you saw, you conquered. You might also have discovered just how much (and sometimes how little!) we have in common with the ancient Greeks and Romans.

Either way, the Classics Quiz is back in 2024 for its 7th iteration and a freshly picked laurel crown is up for grabs.

A festival favourite, join us at University House and prove you know your Caesars from your salads.

Gather the troops (tables of 8 max) or come solo and be matched up with fellow quiz enthusiasts on the night. Each team member must be registered to receive a ticket. You can finalise your team name on the night.

Historical sages and reigning quiz masters Professor Tim Parkin and Dr Roslynne Bell will test your knowledge and guide you through the ages.

The bar will be open (the grapes freshly stomped), and discounted food options will be available to assist the revelry.

BYO togas and thinking caps: best classically/thematically dressed and best team name win prizes!

What to expect:

  • Five rounds of multiple-choice questions.
  • Prizes for 1st, 2nd and 3rd place with plenty of bonus prizes along the way.

Notes on accessibility:

  • University House is wheelchair friendly.
  • Menu options will cater to most dietary requirements.
  • Quiz questions will be shown on screen and read aloud.
