Engage your Year 6-8 students in a hands-on STEM experience using micro:bits
Join us for an exciting professional development session designed to equip teachers with the tools to deliver an engaging Self-Driving Car using micro:bits program. This sequence of lessons introduces students to the social, ethical, and environmental considerations of autonomous vehicle technology while linking to the Australian Curriculum in Science, Digital Technologies, and Design and Technologies (Year 7).
What you will learn:
- Algorithm design & programming – Modify motor speed, experiment with branching, and control ultrasonic sensors
- Problem-solving & coding – Use if/else statements and variables
- STEM in action – Understand how cutting-edge technology connects to industry advancements

CPD sessions are held upstairs at UniSC Fraser Coast. Parking is available on the street, to the rear of the Hervey Bay library or at the PCYC. Disability parking is available at the lake end of the campus via the staff carpark, and there is a lift to the right of the Building B entrance.
