EVENT DESCRIPTION

Create, connect with others, and learn new skills through Collaborative Storytelling.

In this peer-guided creative process, we will write an original story together. We'll be embracing a process that is quirky, illuminating, and respectful - one in which there are many voices that shape the story. By combining our ideas, we hope to find a broader, more inclusive perspective on creative writing.

All it takes is contribution, connection, and a little creativity. Everyone's input matters! So whether you are new to creative writing or have experience, this event is for you. Remi and Li, our two peer facilitators will be there throughout the afternoon, to guide the activity, offer encouragement and support the creative process.

Remi and Li will prepare a relaxed and collaborative environment, with time for discussion, brainstorming, and writing together. Your storytelling session will focus on the collective voice — where the subject of the story takes centre stage, rather than any one storyteller.

Come share ideas, innovate, and make an impact. Everything you'll need to write will be available, plus tasty snacks to keep the creative juices flowing. The story

We can’t wait to create with you.

WWDACT is a systemic advocacy and peer support organisation for women, girls, feminine identifying and non-binary people with disability in the ACT region. Established in 1995, WWDACT follows a human rights philosophy, based on the Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities (CRPD) and the Convention on the Elimination of (All Forms Of) Discrimination Against Women (CEDAW). It works with government and non-government organisations to improve the status and lives of women with disabilities in the ACT and surrounding region. Our priority areas include: equity, health, violence prevention, environmental safety and housing.

WWDACT, through its membership, has strong links to relevant ACT advocacy organisations and also has a close association with Women With Disabilities Australia (WWDA), the peak organisation for women with all types of disabilities in Australia.

WWDACT has won several awards for our work, including the 2015 Chief Minister’s Inclusion Award for Excellence in Championing Human Rights and the 2012 International Women’s Day Award, Community Category.
