About this event

This is your chance to have your say about the proposed revised constitution for QFHS. The draft document will be distributed to all members along with accompanying bylaws, well in advance of the meeting. The documents will also be available on the website here https://www.qfhs.org.au/about-us/constitution-and-by-laws/

QFHS’s constitution was last updated in 1992. Since then, there have been significant amendments to the legislation governing associations such as QFHS. In 2023, a constitution subcommittee was established, which engaged Mayes Law to assist in drafting a revised constitution and bylaws. Valuable input from the management committee and an advisory group of Fellows and former committee members has guided this process.

Your feedback will assist us to hone the draft to a final document to be offered to members for their acceptance or otherwise at the Members General Meeting scheduled for 24 September.

Members may also provide feedback directly to the constitution subcommittee by emailing it to constitution.review@qfhs.org.au anytime up to 4 September.

QFHS aims to bring together people who are interested in the study of genealogy, heraldry, and family and local history, and to assist and encourage members in their research. We also aim to encourage the preservation of historical records, to acquire and maintain a reference and research library, and to collect and preserve material relating to the families of the people of Queensland.

Most of our speakers donate their time for the larger education benefit of our members. We are particularly grateful for the donation of time and effort from our own members. Their knowledge & expertise are valuable gifts to the Society and our members, and we thank them, one and all.
