Drawing for relaxation with Sue Vesely

Workshop overview:

Held in the MAC yapang marquee overlooking the Sculpture Park and beautiful Lake Macquarie this beginner-friendly workshop is a wonderful opportunity to connect with other creatives while experiencing the relaxing benefits of drawing.

You will learn drawing techniques that promote a calming effect and meditative state of mind. Drawing in new ways that are not concerned with “getting it right”, composition or perspective and using mainly line, you will start to feel and strengthen the connection between the hand and eye, and gain confidence in controlling your technique.

In this group, participants will focus on drawing beautiful objects, such as flowers and natural forms which engage the mind and soothe the spirit.

Note: This workshop requires a minimum number of participants to run. If the minimum is not met your ticket will be refunded.

• 3 x individual weekly sessions available. Book for one, two or all three sessions.

• This workshop suits beginners and is designed for adults.
• Participants are required to wear closed-in shoes.

About the Artist:

Originally from England, Lake Macquarie based artist, Vesely has extensive training in the arts with a BA Honours in Fine Art from the Heart of England University and a Master of Arts (honours) in Painting from the Royal College of Art in London.

With a practice based in primarily drawing and painting Vesely draws significantly on imagination and memory to create dreamlike figures and spaces.

Since coming to Australia in 2008 Vesely has taught adult education in Sydney at Sydney Community College, Macquarie Community College, The Art Gallery of New South Wales and the Museum of Art and Culture yapang in Lake Macquarie.

As a teacher, Vesely is passionate about introducing beginners to the fundamental concepts of drawing.
