Join Narellan Camera House and Nikon Australia for an immersive astrophotography workshop at the stunning Bombo Quarry, where you'll learn how to plan and capture breathtaking images of the Milky Way. Lead by Nikon School lecturer G Gunawan, this hands-on session is perfect for those looking to gain confidence in shooting the night sky, whether you're a beginner or looking to refine your skills.

We'll begin with a 30–45 minute theory session covering essential planning steps, including choosing the right time, location scouting, and understanding astrophotography etiquette. Then, you'll put your knowledge into practice with expert guidance, mastering camera settings, composition, and focusing techniques to capture stunning night sky images.

Recommended Skill Level: Beginner to Intermediate

What You’ll Learn:

🔭 The Planning:

• Finding the right date and time
• Understanding Milky Way positioning
• Scouting ideal locations—even if you've never been there before
• Astrophotography etiquette

📷 Camera Techniques:

• Achieving sharp focus at night
• Mastering composition in low light
• Essential camera settings for night photography
• If you're using a non-Nikon camera, ensure you know how to adjust Aperture, Shutter Speed, and ISO

What to Bring:

• Camera with manual settings
• Sturdy tripod & tripod plate
• Cable release/remote shutter
• Torch (preferably a head torch with red/amber light)

What to Wear:

• Comfortable footwear for uneven terrain
• Warm clothing—it can get chilly at night!

A selection of Nikon Z Series Cameras and NIKKOR Z lenses will be available for trial during the session along with a Nikon representative to answer your questions.
