About this program

Stepping into a role where you are responsible for managing and influencing others to get the job done can be a challenge when you have just been responsible for your own performance. Your knowledge of the technical and operational components of the job may be excellent but the extra tasks and responsibilities of leading a team are different in nature. The transition can be challenging if you do not have a fundamental toolkit and some assistance on how to take the next step in getting things done through others.

Many leaders are thrown into a ‘sink or swim’ situation when moving into their new leadership roles. Coaching, giving feedback, motivating your team, decision making and problem-solving are all day-to-day functions that are required in order to engage your people and achieve outcomes.

This workshop is aimed at giving new managers and leaders a toolkit for making the transition into a management role.

Learning Objectives

Following this session participants will be able to:

· Define the role of the leader within your organisation.

· Examine the challenges of transitioning into the leadership/supervisory role.

· Recognise your own leadership approach.

· Develop strategies to adapt your leadership approach.

· Use techniques and tools to effectively prioritise work tasks and activities.

· Discuss effective delegation and how to set clear expectations.

· Develop a plan for giving and receiving feedback.

· Demonstrate effective coaching skills.

· Build a plan for leadership growth.
