About this event

  • Event lasts 3 hours 30 minutes

Welcome to "Energy In Motion”, a transformational event where ecstatic dance, cacao and emotional release converge to create an unforgettable experience. This is more than an event; it's a journey of self-discovery and expression, offering a blend of personal growth, community connection, and joyous celebration.

Emotion is energy in motion and this event is designed to facilitate emotional processing with an undercurrent of bliss. It's about inner exploration and embodied expression, all wrapped up in a lively, party-like atmosphere. Personal development can be fun, and we're here to prove it.

UNLEASH: Celebrate and let loose

As 2024 comes to a close, let us take this opportunity to celebrate and integrate. To really feel what this year has meant for us, the lessons, the highlights, the challenges and everything in between, letting them land in our body so we can take what serves us into 2025 and leave behind what doesn’t.

Together we will move, feel and express our way to greater levels of embodiment, clarity and strength. Creating a clear and powerful vessel to call in whatever our heart desires in the new year.

Join us for a night to let loose and celebrate another year in all of its highs and lows. To feel into the gratitude for this human experience and celebrate the gift of being alive!

This event is an opportunity to dance AND an invitation to transform through movement, play, and the pleasure of being fully present in your body.

Experience Highlights:

  • Ecstatic Dance: A liberating space for self-expression. Shed your inhibitions and let the rhythm guide your movements. No previous dance experience is needed—just a heart open to the journey.
  • Cacao Ceremony: Connect with this heart-opening plant magic, historically revered as 'food of the Gods'. Our cacao ceremony helps deepen your emotional awareness and connection to yourself while fueling your desire to dance and connect.
  • Guided Embodiment Activities: Curated to each month’s theme, join us and our guest facilitators as we take you on a journey to embody and integrate deeper layers of yourself.

Community Guidelines:

- Be Present: No phones on the dance floor

- Be Clear: No intoxicants

- Be Embodied: No talking during the dance

- Be Respectful of Others: Consensual contact only

Join us at Energy In Motion for a transformative experience where you'll dance, connect, and evolve, surrounded by a community of kindred spirits.

Together, let's celebrate the full spectrum of the human experience, transforming through the beauty and power of dance, presence and communal energy.

About your hosts:

Co-Host: Patty McDonald (aka DJ Chakaruna) - @ pattymac.truth

Patty is passionate about helping people open their hearts and find bliss in the full spectrum of the human experience. Chakaruna means "Bridge Person" in the Quechua language - this journey is here to provide a bridge for you into new ways of connecting with your self, with each other and with the world around you.

An experienced leader and coach, he recently doubled down on music as an even purer vehicle to deliver transformation, and spent a few weeks in Guatemala dancing with and learning from some of the world's best organic music producers such as Mose, Scott Nice, ATYYA and Melbourne's own Temple Step Project. He also was humbled to learn about Cacao plant magic whilst in Guatemala and is honoured to be holding a space for Cacao and Ecstatic Dance to be shared with our community.

Co-Host: Shahna Sarpi - @shahnasarpi

It was love at first dance, when Shahna stepped onto an ecstatic dance dance-floor. She saw the immense power in embodied movement and authentic expression, coming home to hear body and her self and feeling the liberation that comes from allowing the energy to move through her. Since that time, she has interwoven these lessons and practices into what she does personally, but also professionally.

Shahna has a special interest in empowering people. With her background in Nutrition, Shahna combines healthy habits, mindset support, embodiment practices and somatic healing tools to take people from stressed and burnt out, to healthy, thriving and radiant. Guiding to cultivate a deep sense of self love and self belief, so that they can make all of their dreams become a reality.

Guest DJ: Mickey Space - @mickey.space

"Salutations to the extraterrestrial architects who anointed Mickey Space as the harbinger of sonic wonder!” Emanating from the depths of interstellar realms, Mickey Space embodies the essence of celestial groove. Dubbed the Oceanic Jack Sparrow of beats, Mickey fearlessly thrives on adventure and embraces the unknown. With a daring spirit, he's propelled his eclectic career into the cosmos. From soulful rhythms to electronic enchantment, Mickey has serenaded the most discerning dance floors across the galaxy! While rooted in Melbourne, Mickey's odyssey began amidst the sun-kissed shores of a Thai island, launching his diverse musical journey over two decades ago! A stalwart of Australia's festival circuit, he's graced the stages of countless gatherings, leaving an indelible mark on a spectrum of dance cultures, from house to glitch and beyond. In recent years, Mickey's sonic explorations have intertwined with his spiritual pilgrimage, weaving elements of the sacred and shamanic into his sets, guiding dancers on mystical journeys of the soul.

Guest Facilitator: Victor Jay - @victorismyname

Victor Jay is a musical magician who can open hearts and co-creates intentional soundscapes with his audience. He facilitates journeys that hold the prayers of the people. Victor uses his looper with recordings from his band and plays along with cello, guitar, vocals and sometimes didgeridoo, with respect to the aboriginal custodians, to create transformational musical and performative experiences.

Things to note:

Ticket cost is $50.00 if purchasing at the door on the night of event.

Personal responsibility: Please make an assessment on whether you are feeling stable and resourced enough to explore the practices on offer in this event.

Centre of You has plenty of bolsters, blankets, and cushions for you to get cosy with. We recommend wearing comfortable, loose clothes to enable deep breathing and sitting/laying upon the floor with ease. A journal and an eye mask is recommended as are any familiar personal items that will aid you in feeling grounded (crystal, teddy, scarf, etc).

Arrival: Endeavour to arrive between 6:15pm - 6:30pm. To preserve the experience for all involved, doors will close at 6:45pm. Truly, it breaks our heart to have to turn latecomers away yet the disruption to the whole group experience by virtue of lateness does require management. We ask that you find understanding and consideration for the timebound nature of the container and make every effort to arrive on time.

Driving: Know Centre of You is on Chapel St and ample time to find a car spot is best to be factored into your plans. Park direct on Chapel St (spots unmetered after 5pm) or in Anchor Place, the open-air parking lot in the side street that runs opposite Centre of You (unmetered after 4pm).

Public transport - tram: Both the number 6 tram & 78 tram stop on the corner of High St/Chapel St. This is stop 31 on the number 6 tram (Moreland/Glen Iris) & stop 45 on the number 78 tram (North Richmond/Balaclava).

Public transport - train: Both Prahran & Windsor stations along the Sandringham Line will get you walking distance to Centre of You.

Finding Centre of You: Centre of You is nestled within the arcade that Chapel St Bazaar is in (217 Chapel St). It is up a flight of stairs with a wide landing at the half-way-point. Unfortunately, this current version of Centre of You does not have a wheelchair-accessible lift. If you could use support in getting up the stairs or would like to discuss ways to make your experience at Centre of You more comfortable, please reach out via grace@centreofyou.com.au or via DM over on Centre of You Instagram.

Accessibility: At COY we aim to ensure our community and events are inclusive and accessible while upholding the needs and responsibilities of our business and partnering facilitators. Should you be in a time of financial challenge and unable to pay the full ticket price comfortably, please be in contact via grace@centreofyou.com.au. Together we will find a way.

Ticketing T&Cs: We get it, life happens, therefore we will gladly refund you up until 24hrs before the event start time. After that, we have a strict no refund/no transfer to future events policy.
