About this event

  • Event lasts 1 hour 30 minutes

    This family friendly event will involve a walk through the wetlands of Piney Lakes . Keep an eye and ear out for frogs, turtles and birds, and take a close up look at some of the curious creatures living beneath the surface of the water in our local wetlands.

    We recommend wearing gum-boots and wet-weather gear as this event will take place rain, hail or shine!

    This is a relaxed event suitable for kids of all ages. This walk may not be suitable for prams and new walkers as the ground can be uneven. Children must be supervised at all times.

    A guided wetland walk with some question time, walk time is dependent on group.

    Start time

    Event activities will start on time, but if you are running late, you may still join.

    Location

    Mostly outside, starting at Centre.

    Requirements

    Bring wet weather clothes and be prepared to get muddy!

    Type of event and expectations

    This is a casual event, all ages welcome, please be respectful to each other and your environment. Caregivers are responsible for the health and safety of their children at all times.

    Accessibility

    This event is mostly a walk and paths may not be suitable for wheelchairs/walking aids.

    Disabled parking is available at front of Centre, rooms are located on multiple levels via a ramp and toilets are available within the venue. For specific access requirements please feel free to call or email the centre at (08)9364 0191 or piney.lakes@melville.wa.gov.au

    Directions to centre

    Please consider using public transportation. A bus stop, just a 2-minute walk away, is conveniently located near the Centre and services multiple routes.

    The Centre is located at 555 Leach Highway, Winthrop in the Piney Lakes reserve. To reach us, if heading westbound, take the first left after Murdoch Drive on Leach Highway. If coming from the Fremantle area, continue on Leach Hwy across Murdoch Drive and use the designated U-turn just after the lights to move to the westbound lanes. Go back through the lights at Murdoch Drive and take the first left. Please park in the signed public carpark.
