Cancer Council Victoria: Cervical Screening in Multicultural Communities

Join Cancer Council Victoria for an informative and interactive free online capacity-building session designed for people working with multicultural communities.

This session will cover the following topics:

  • What is cervical cancer?
  • What is HPV and its link to cervical cancer?
  • HPV vaccination
  • The importance of cervical screening,
  • How to encourage individuals to complete screening,
  • Strategies for overcoming common barriers faced by multicultural communities.
  • Information on the new national lung screening program

Participants will learn effective ways to communicate key messages, engage with diverse cultural groups, and address any misconceptions surrounding cervical screening.

Through interactive activities, you'll gain practical skills to support and empower your community in making informed decisions about cancer screening. All attendees will be sent a certificate after the session.

Cancer Council is also offering a second free session on bowel and breast screening on Tuesday May 13th. Please register for this session separately here.
Note - you can choose to attend both sessions or simply one. The sessions are designed to complement each other.

Who can attend?

Anyone who works with multicultural communities and has an interest in wanting to promote cancer screening messages, including but not limited to bicultural workers, health promotion officers, community champions and volunteers. This includes staff, volunteers and students.

Cancer screening key messages, barriers to cancer screening , further information on the free Australian national cancer screening program and how to promote cancer screening in multicultural communities
