This dynamic event is designed for clinicians, researchers, and healthcare professionals eager to explore the journey from health innovation to startup.

Through an interactive workshop and panel discussion, participants will gain insights into fostering an entrepreneurial mindset, navigating the health and medtech investment landscape, and transitioning from academia to entrepreneurship.

Attendees will hear from health leaders, investors, and successful founders as they discuss the challenges and opportunities for clinicians and healthcare professionals in entrepreneurship.

The event will provide actionable strategies for bringing health innovations to market, securing investment, and fostering cross-sector collaborations offering invaluable resources for those looking to drive impact in healthcare innovation.


Your Expert Panel

  • Dr Joseph Po is the Health 10x Program Manager, UNSW Founders. He is a former cancer researcher and academic. Since then, he co-founded 2x medtech companies and eager to support research commercialisation across Australia. He has 10+ years in the medical research sphere.

  • Professor Kazuaki Negishi is a leading cardiologist, clinical trialist, and Chair of Cardiovascular Research in South Western Sydney. A board-certified cardiologist in both Japan and Australia, he has over 9,000 citations and an h-index of 52, with research spanning air pollution and cardiovascular disease, cardio-oncology, and space medicine. His work has earned him a National Heart Foundation Future Leader Fellowship.

  • Paul Matteucci is a biomedical engineer and technology leader with expertise in medical device development, including his work on the bionic eye at UNSW. He specialises in translating cutting-edge biomedical research into real-world healthcare solutions, bridging the gap between innovation and commercialisation. His work supports deep-tech startups and researchers in bringing breakthrough medical technologies to market.

  • Dr. Ashwani Kumar is a physician and public health researcher with extensive experience in clinical pharmacology and medical research. He is the co-founder of BantingMed, a company dedicated to advancing diabetes care. Dr. Kumar is currently pursuing a PhD at the George Institute for Global Health, focusing on the burden of sepsis, and serves as a Research Associate with the Australian Sepsis Network. His work aims to improve patient outcomes in both diabetes management and sepsis care.
