About this event

  • Event lasts 2 hours 30 minutes

This program provides guidance for people living with dementia, their family members and family carers to plan for the future, once they have come to terms with a diagnosis of dementia and understand the symptoms and impacts of dementia.

It includes topics such as accommodation and living arrangements, financial considerations, decision-making, planning health care, options for people in employment, and strategies for communicating and implementing plans.

Suitable for: People living with dementia and their family carers and family members. Participants should have a good understanding of dementia and feel ready to think about the future in detail. This program is not intended as professional education for workers employed in the health or aged care sectors.

This program runs over five consecutive weeks on Wednesdays. Attendees must be available to attend all five sessions to complete the program:

  • Thursday, 10 October 2024, from 1:00pm to 3:30pm
  • Thursday, 17 October 2024, from 1:00pm to 3:30pm
  • Thursday, 24 October 2024, from 1:00pm to 3:30pm
  • Thursday, 31 October 2024, from 1:00pm to 3.30pm
  • Thursday, 7 November 2024, from 1:00pm to 3:30pm

Dementia Australia's facilitators have specialist dementia knowledge, skills and experience. This program is delivered interactively, you will be encouraged to share your experiences alongside other participants giving you an opportunity to develop new support networks.

There is no need to download any software in order to participate in this online workshop, therefore you will only need to click on the link to join the session at starting time.

Do I have to bring my printed ticket to the event?

It is ideal if you can bring your ticket. However, if you have completed your registration we will have your details and forgetting your ticket won’t be a problem.
