Gouache Painting Course for Beginners

This is a 4-week workshop run every Wednesday evening from 6.30pm to 9pm, beginning 19 February and ending on 12 March.

This 4-week painting course is open to all levels. It is best suited to complete beginners and those who are getting back into painting after a long hiatus. While intermediate students may be familiar with many concepts that will be taught, this course can offer some challenge to improve existing painting skills.

This course will use the water-based medium gouache. We will discuss colour mixing, tonal values and put theory into practice with painting studies from life and from photo references. There will be demonstrations and one-on-one guidance throughout the classes. All required painting materials will be supplied.

The course will progress as follows:

• Week 1 - Introduction to materials, colour mixing & paint handling
• Week 2 - Creating a tonal study & painting from life
• Week 3 - Painting from a photo reference (pet portrait)
• Week 4 - Create your own artwork in a chosen genre
