About this event

These therapeutic sessions provide an understanding of grief and loss and its impact on family carers of someone living with Dementia. Discuss the ways people may experience and express their grief and promote self care and resilience strategies.

You will gain knowledge and emotional support in:

  • understanding your needs and responses to grief and loss
  • putting into practice self care strategies to support your wellbeing and build resilience

Suitable for: Family carers and family members of people living with dementia. It is recommended that participants have previously attended an introductory session on dementia. This session is not suitable for professionals employed in the health or aged care sectors.

Dementia Australia's facilitators have specialist dementia knowledge, skills and counselling experience. This session is focused on the carer and is delivered interactively. You will be encouraged to share your experiences alongside other participants giving you an opportunity to develop new support networks.

This program runs over 2 sessions:

  • Tuesday 24 September, from 9:30am to 1:30pm
  • Thursday 26 September, from 9:30am to 1:30pm

Do I have to bring my printed ticket to the event?

It is ideal if you can bring your ticket. However, if you have completed your registration we will have your details and forgetting your ticket won’t be a problem.
