We'll be having some HALLOWEEN fun! (It won't be scary).

Peachy Keen have previously been a container bar with a funky space and cool cocktails.
A new owner has taken over and they are now open earlier and for coffee.
It's a fun space that allows the kids to wander around freely. You will love it.
It's undercover, and away from the road.

Peachy Keen is located down a laneway. Head to Jellis Craig, 82-84 Ferguson Street and you'll see some signs to lead you there.

What will we be doing?

There will be a few things set up for the kids to move around between as they choose.

This is a HALLOWEEN themed session.
Specific activities are still being worked out, but for now...

We'll be doing some things like:

  • drawing, scribbling and stamping their hearts out
  • painting on the butchers paper on the tables
  • colouring in sheets on clipboards that they can walk around with
  • there will be 2 kids easels for them to stand up with
  • using my window crayons to draw on a mirror
  • having lots of fun
  • AND it will all be Halloween themed!

This will not be a scary Halloween event. Encourage your child to dress up, and let's have some fun!

And the grown ups will be drinking some pretty good coffee while the kids have fun. Please support Peachy Keen in buying a coffee or two while you are here :)

Please note, as this is a cafe, there are no windows and so we won't be drawing on windows for this one. Sorry!

The kids are free to stay on an activity if they are particularly enjoying it, move onto the next thing, or ignore everything and scribble on the butchers paper laid out on the table.

These sessions are more about learning to love art, than creating any final masterpiece. The kids are always encouraged to express themselves however they like and be creative, so if they are more interested in mixing all the coloured paint together and putting handprints on the paper than anything else, it's more than fine! They will still enjoy themselves. :)

Why should I come?

  • It's lots of fun.
  • Helps your child be creative and learn to love art.
  • An opportunity to do something different.
  • Meet new people – both you and your child.
  • Helps build fine motor skills.
  • Helps with pre-writing skills.
  • Can help teach kids that mess is ok, and making mistakes is ok too.
  • You don't have to think of an art activity to do at home.
  • You don't have to clean up afterwards!

This is also a great way to give your kids the experience of painting and making lots of mess, if you the parent are a bit apprehensive about making that mess yourself at home. Come to my sessions and make the mess with me, keeping your house clean.

There is no pressure and a very easy going environment. There will be lots of scribbles, there will be smooshes of paint that you can't recognise as a picture, and there will be some great photos that you can take.

Extra info

Snacks and breastfeeding welcome.

There is a coffee machine and they are allowing us to use this space assuming that we will all be buying coffee, so please support them!

I'll be taking photos throughout the morning and using them for marketing and promotional purposes. If you'd prefer your child is not included please simply let me know.

We will be painting, so please dress accordingly!

I have some art smocks, but only a limited amount. Depending on how many children attend, there may not be enough for all. If you have your own art smock please bring it along.

If your child has any allergies please let me know, as I often recycle old cartons and fruit packaging for paint containers.

Exchange and refund policy

I know parenting can be tricky, and sleepless nights, sickness and tantrums occur. Firstly, if you're having a bad morning don't feel like you need to stay home, this is a group of parents and we will all understand. This is a safe space and meltdowns are fine! (in saying that, please bring snacks to help avoid hangry kids!)

The Fun In Art runs various sessions, in different locations, roughly 2-3 times per week in Hobsons Bay.

All sessions are designed to be one-off and drop in.
Please book in using the link in event ahead of time as some events do sell out.
Walk in's are totally fine, as long as there is space. Please check my social media on the morning of a session to see if drop-in's are available.

Frequently asked questions

What ages does this suit?

1-5

Can I bring a younger sibling along?

Yes of course! Siblings under 1 year old can come along free of charge

My kid is a bit of a clean freak, how will this work?

This is a perfect experiment for them! Often kids who like to be clean at home, are fine to be covered in paint elsewhere, so it can be good expose them to mess. If it doesn't go as planned, we can clean their hands, or they can opt for crayons and pencils instead.

My kid doesn't really like art, will they be ok?

Some kids don't like drawing, and that's ok. But most kids like painting! And they like mess! And there are also other things like stamps and stickers. If your kid doesn't seem to like art, you can still attend. Afterall, these classes are all about teaching kids to love art.

Do I need to stay?

Yes, you need to stay with your child. They will prefer it!

I'm not creative myself, will I be ok?

It's perfectly fine! You don't actually need to do anything, just come along and sit next to your child. You can encourage them, you can help them, but also, if you don't want to, you can just sit! You've come to the right place, because I'll be creative for you.

Can I bring a friend?

If there's room in the class you can absolutely bring a friend! Please tell them to book online if possible, or if they would like to simply drop-in, they can (as long as there is room). Generally I post on social media if there are spots available for drop-ins, or if a class is a sell out.

I don't know anyone, is that ok?

Most people coming to these classes are coming alone, so don't worry at all about that.

Do I need to bring anything?

All materials will be supplied. I have some art smocks but if you have your own I'd suggest bring it along. Bring a snack in case your little one gets hungry.

Can I bring snacks?

Yes!
