About this event

Who are we? GROW is a community mental health organisation that was founded in 1957 by people who needed mental health support. Over time, we have developed the Grow Program, which is a rich collection of wisdom and writings that have been developed by our members, known as ‘Growers’. It represents what we have found to work for us in our recovery and has evolved over time from lived experience. Our Grow Program is a 12 step program and helps give us the tools for improving and maintaining our mental health and wellbeing.

What do we do & how do we do it? We offer face-to-face and online Grow groups. Our Grow groups are structured, 2 hour weekly meetings based on lived experience, meaning they are a meeting of peers made up of people who are striving to develop and maintain good mental health. At each meeting, we share about how we came to GROW and how we are exploring self-improvement strategies on our road to recovery. It’s not a straightforward road, and that’s where the support of other Growers helps – everyone in the group has opportunities to share their experience of recovery. You’ll be motivated by the stories you hear from others, and you’ll soon realise you’re not alone. What makes GROW so special is the practical advice and the lived experiences that are shared every week by our Growers. This peer-to-peer style of support has been proven to be a positive way of helping us to remain on the road to recovery.

Our Grow groups are:

  • Free
  • Confidential
  • 2 hour weekly meetings
  • Structured ‘working’ meetings
  • Open to people aged 18 and over
  • No referrals, diagnosis or appointments needed. Just turn up!
