Do you have a business idea but you are not sure what steps to take to get started? Or have you recently started a business and want to check you have done everything you need to? Join experienced business advisor Stephen Hansen, from Rural Business Tasmania, who delivers the Tasmanian Government's New Business Support Pilot Program. Stephen will guide you through what is involved in starting a business.


At the event, you will learn:

· How to register an Australian Business Number (ABN)

· How to register a business name

· How to work out if there is demand for your product or service

· Different business structures

· Tax and GST requirements

· Insurance

· Other laws and regulations (e.g. Australian consumer law, privacy, fair trading, WHS, employment)

· The benefits of a business plan


Stephen will share how people thinking about starting a business and those in their first year of business can receive up to two hours of free advice under the New Business Support Pilot Program.


Kelly Brown, the Manager of the Business Tasmania service, will share how Business Tasmania help people to start, run and grow their business by offering personalised assistance, information and access to a range of services and programs from the Department of State Growth and other government agencies. The Business Tasmania team make it easier for the community to talk to government and access available support.


Everyone is welcome to attend this free event, whether you’re a business owner, operator or dreaming of getting started.
