PARTICIPANTS

Limited to 25 persons (plus the training team).

In this workshop series you will immerse yourself in the Internal Family Systems Therapy (IFS) model of psychotherapy. IFS Institute's International Partner Simon d'Orsogna MA will offer a 2 Day Introductory IFS workshop, followed by a 2 Day Deepening IFS workshop. Attendees of previous Introductory IFS workshops can apply for tickets in the Deepening, with preference going to the current participants.

Participants in the Introductory Workshop will learn the basics of the IFS approach from the ground up. No previous knowledge of the model is assumed. Suitable to mental health professionals including therapists, psychologists, counsellors, psychiatrists, expressive and therapeutic arts practitioners, and social workers. The focus in the Deepening days is on further understanding the IFS approach, model and techniques through a series of exercises, demos and discussion. To attend the Deepening, attendees must have completed the Introduction to IFS workshop or equivalent (6 hours minimum). Priority will be given to current enrollees in this Introductory workshop to enhance group cohesion and safety.

Participants will be supported in the experiential work with experienced trained therapists and practitioners as your assistants - each have completed the official IFS Institutes Training Level 1 or better.

This workshop provides an opportunity for didactic presentation, watching both demonstration sessions with commentary and discussion, and engaging in experiential exercises where we learn-by-doing. You will develop a familiarity with the powerful attitudes and techniques that make IFS so effective. The sessions here aim to provide an opportunity for adult learning in a process-oriented group approach. We aim to foster professional development in a supportive collegial atmosphere.

Anyone attending the live training/workshop is recommended to have a vaccination against COVID-19. We recommend all participants take best precautions (masks, distancing, hand-washing) in order to take care of others and themselves during the pandemic and flu seasons. Despite loss of media attention, the Australian infection rates and hospital numbers are still significant, and we hope to take care of those around us by taking good care in gathering together. Long Covid is a reality.

Testimonials from attendees of Simon's recent IFS workshops ...

"The workshop inspired me to become more committed to using the model and developed my confidence. Group discussions, demonstrations and small group work created a positive and open learning atmosphere. Simon was living the values of IFS through openly embracing all the parts in the room. I had the opportunity to work with my own parts in a supportive atmosphere.

Fun, informative, experiential, respectful, and inspiring.

Useful, effective, grounding, and gave me more confidence in using IFS"

Really enjoyed Simons's presence, authenticity, compassion, and expertise in the field. It made for an engaging and fun workshop and I came away inspired by IFS.

An absolute must to attend if you are wanting to explore the use of IFS in your practice.

I really appreciate Simon’s process oriented style and his embodiment and refined understanding of IFS - he lives and breaths it."

Who is this for?

Participation is for therapists and counsellors, mental health clinicians, or students in accredited graduate training programs. Practitioners working experientially and wholistically will find this approach broadens and makes more effective their existing work through using the steps of the IFS model of 'Self and parts' . No assumption of knowledge of the model is required, although some pre-reading/pre-viewing of freely available online material is recommended. Recommended materials can be accessed at the IFS Institute website, under the Resources tab. See podcast series IFS Talks, and the book 'No Bad Parts' by Richard Schwartz.

See Guidelines on continuing professional development (CPD) from the Australian Psychological Society and Guidelines on continuing professional development (CPD) set down by the Psychology Registration Board of Australia.

The Australian Psychological Society advise that APS Members may accrue Continuing Professional Development (CPD) hours by participating in activities that they determine to be relevant to their specific professional approaches, and professional development goals. CPD activities do not need to be endorsed by the APS. A certificate of attendance will be available to participants who attend.

An attendance certificate will be provided to those who attend all days.
