As part of 2025 Heritage Festival, Wollongong Libraries Local studies team have ‘Unearthed’ some 8mm Film footage taken around the Illawarra in the 1950’s.   

Step back in time viewing local 1950’s Surf Carnivals, Queen’s Coronation Celebration Parades and some local soccer games from an original 8mm projector.

You may see yourself, a family member or friend in the footage and help the Local studies team ‘Unearth’ more information to add to our library records.
