About talk
“'Being There' means more than arrival – it means being truly present, attuned to landscape, culture, history. Artmaking is my way of connecting, documenting and reflecting on my lived experience and the world around me, whether in a moment or with the passage of time.” - Cathy Shugg
In this artist talk, artist Cathy Shugg explores how her art practice is shaped by a deep engagement with place, culture and history. From her Bowral studio to en plein air painting on six continents, Cathy reflects on how travel, observation and lived experience inform her creative process. Through stories and insights, she invites us into her world of documenting, responding to, and making sense of the landscapes and people she encounters.
