About this event

  • Event lasts 1 hour

Artist, fine art conservator and author Christabel Blackman will discuss her new book on her parents, Charles & Barbara Blackman: a decade of art and love, with award winning journalist Tracee Hutchison. Highly acclaimed, Blackman's book is not only a moving exploration of the deep love her parents shared - as evidenced by their letters - but an eloquent, perceptive and empathetic insight into the Melbourne art scene of the 1950s. Written from an insiders perspective, the book details the lives, interrelationships and extended circles of those who were to become some of Australia's most revered artists, as they were just embarking on their careers.

The book will be available for sale and author signing by our book partners Antipodes Bookshop.

The event also launches Charles Blackman: decades of art + love - a feature exhibition of limited edition prints, sculptures and drawings by Charles Blackman from the Blackman Family Collections.

A light brunch of sparkling wine, orange juice and croissants will be served.

Tracee Hutchison is an award-winning broadcaster, journalist, TV producer, filmmaker and author. Her career spans 40 years at the highest level in Australian and international media, including TripleJ, ABC TV's 7.30 Report, Radio Australia, 3RRR and as an Op/Ed columnist at The Age.
