About this event

  • Event lasts 1 hour 30 minutes

This webinar will provide an overview of the aged care system including the Commonwealth Home Support Program (CHSP), the Home Care Package program (HCP) and Short-Term Restorative Care program (STRC). *Residential aged care funding will not be covered in detail. With 'Support at Home' has been delayed to 2025, the current systems can still be confusing and challenging for OTs new to this space, and those well established. It can be confronting as there is currently no education resources for OTs to upskill and understand the multiple funding programs which an OT can work under.

This webinar will be followed by a second event - a masterclass workshop that will focus more specifically on the Home Care Package program. The below listed key topics will be covered, alongside time to integrate learning by working through challenging scenario case studies experienced by OTs working in the HCP space. Limited spaces available!

At the end of the 'Intro to Aged Care' webinar participants will:

  • Understand the aged care programs and the funding arrangements for each
  • Understanding the principles and scope of each program
  • Understanding the interactions between the programs
  • Find out about the way equipment and home modifications are set up within each system
  • Learn about recent changes in the aged care space such as the Serious Incident Response Scheme (SIRS)
  • Gain an understanding of the new 'Support at Home' program that is due to replace above named existing community programs in 2024
