- Master the essentials of aperture, shutter speed, ISO, and general camera modes, tailored to your experience level.
- Discover the optimal camera settings for achieving sharp and in-focus pet portraits.
Focus Techniques:
- Learn where to focus and which focus settings work best for dynamic and still dog shots.
- Keep your pet’s eyes sharp and ensure their best features are in perfect focus.
Composition & Framing:
- Use composition techniques to frame your pet beautifully within the shot.
- Explore how to place your dog in the frame for maximum impact using leading lines and strategic positioning.
Lighting Tips:
- Use natural light to your advantage, whether in full sun or shaded areas.
- Understand light quality, color casts, and how to use reflectors or diffusers for a professional touch.
Background & Location:
- Choose backgrounds that complement your dog’s appearance and avoid distractions.
- Create visually pleasing images by paying attention to colors and the surrounding environment.
Posing & Positioning:

What to bring:
· Mirrorless or DSLR camera
· A variety of lenses (such as a fast prime or telephoto)
· Fully charged battery + spares
· Spare Memory cards
· Treats or toys to engage your dog
· Comfortable shoes for walking and shooting outdoors
· Your well-behaved dog, who is comfortable around other people and dogs

What’s not covered:
- Food and water – Food and water are not included in your ticket price. You will have to arrange for your own food and water.
- Transport to and from Oxley Creek Common is not included.
