About this event

On average, Australians send 23kg of textiles to landfill each year. We can take responsibility for our clothing waste and re-route it from landfill through the eco-friendly craft of rug hooking. With a few simple tools and guided by the fabulous Wink Lindsay from Aquila FoodForest, you can create a unique and useful piece of fibre art.

This simple, no-knots process can be used to create useful rugs, cushion covers, bags or more ornate pieces of art to hang on your wall.

All items are supplied except fabric and yarn. Attendees are encouraged to bring a selection of colourful fabrics (excluding denim) to upcycle. These could include old t-shirts, scarves, pillowcases and/or a selection of yarn.

This workshop was made possible with a generous grant from the Waste Authority's Waste Sorted Community Grant program.
