We welcome you to round two of the Internet of Things industry coming together for a brief introduction to the IoT Security Foundation (IoTSF) and seeking Expressions Of Interest in becoming local members of a Melbourne Chapter.
The purpose of this event is to attract IoT and Security professionals to gather to hear about the IoTSF (iotsecurityfoundation.org), it's purpose and mission, and to consider prospective membership and interest in participating in the Melbourne Chapter of the foundation.
The evening will also include a practical presentation by Michael Lindsay of Blueside (blueside.com.au) followed by informal networking with peers.
RSVP now, space is limited, please do not RSVP unless you can make it.
Device Lockdown: Baseline Security for IoT Products
With attacks on IoT escalating in recent years, governments worldwide have turned their attention to device security by enacting laws and introducing cybersecurity labelling schemes aimed at combatting the malicious actors targeting our devices.
Product developers now undoubtably feel the pressure to improve their security practices while managing feature development and more than likely, tight timelines. Recognising the challenge, this session introduces the IoTSF Security Assurance Framework (SAF) as a guide to classifying and securing IoT devices and presents an implementation of controls, including the use of a cloud-based IoT management platform.
This session explores the IoT SAF security classifications, technical controls, and describes how the framework can be used to establish a robust security baseline for connected devices. Using a practical demo project that leverages Azure's IoT service, we'll discuss what Azure can address out of the box, identify remaining gaps, and outline what is needed to meet more stringent compliance requirements.
This presentation would be ideal for product managers, engineers, architects, and IoT enthusiasts who want to understand the practical overlap between security requirements, IoT security frameworks and development with modern cloud platforms.
