Garry Barnes

Practice Lead, Governance Advisory CISA CISM CGEIT CRISC CPDSE ISO/IEC 27001 Lead Implementer (PECB)

Garry has over 30 years’ experience in advising business leaders in diverse industries on governance, information and cyber security, assurance, and risk. He has worked in various roles in the finance industry and public sector and has served on numerous government advisory committees. Garry established and chaired the NSW Cyber Security Community of Practice in 2002, and which remains in operation today. Garry is an accomplished public speaker and an accredited trainer for ISACA credentials and PECB’s ISO27001 Lead Implementer. He is an active mentor and has been engaged in ISACA’s She Leads Tech and One in Tech programs since inception. Volunteering for ISACA since 2003 at international and chapter levels, Garry has served as International Vice President, Treasurer, CISM Committee Chair and Sydney Chapter President. Garry is an ISACA Hall of Fame member and has twice been awarded ISACA President’s Award. He has also been awarded the Sydney Chapter Ruby Award (for international volunteer service), Tony Hayes Award for Oceania Regional Leadership, CISM Award (for CISM global high score) and New South Wales Premier’s Gold Award (for contribution to NSW Government e-tendering system).
