Welcome to the Breast Cancer Awareness Forum!

IWiN is hosting this community awareness event on BREAST Cancer, in collaboration with Her Turning Point, supported by Canberra Health Services, Multicultural Hub and South Asian Federation ACT Inc (SAFACT) on Sunday 3 November 2024, from 2:30pm - 5:00pm.

​Join us at the Yowani Country Club for an informative and engaging event focused on raising awareness about breast cancer. Our forum will feature expert speakers, survivor stories, and interactive sessions to educate and empower attendees. Come together with our community to learn, share, and support one another in the fight against breast cancer. Let's make a difference together!

REGISTRATION is Mandatory for Catering Purposes. An Afternoon Tea will be served and FREE Parking is available for all registered attendees. Register ASAP for your spot as spaces are limited.

This is a community event and OPEN to ALL Interested persons and groups.

Do you know that MEN also can get Breast Cancer ? Hence MEN are particularly welcome to know how they can take care of themselves and their women's health in the family.

This interactive Forum will address the following issues:

1) What is Breast Cancer and how does it impact our body and overall health ?
2) How to Self Assess and take care of Yourself
3) Know the Difference - Cancer Screening Vs Diagnosis Tests
4) Breast Cancer is curable - Learn from Survivor's Journey to Recovery

  • IWiN committed to a new project in 2022, production of a documentary on COVID-19 Impacts on CALD Women in ACT, to capture stories of struggles and resilience of CALD women during this pandemic. The documentary production is in progress and is about to be ready for screening by December 2024.
  • IWiN organised and delivered FEMFEST 2023, an event to display the unique creations and products of CALD women entrepreneurs in ACT on 31 March 2023 with a great success. This FEMFEST event was organised to celebrate IWiN’s 10th Annual International Women’s Day.
  • IWiN has launched a STEM Women Group Network, Connecting The DOTs , on 24 July 2024 at the ACT Legislative Assembly to support and promote ACT’s talented CALD women who are STEM professionals and women interested in STEM fields.
  • IWiN presented its 2024 Symposium, Investing and Valuing Women in STEM: Accelerate Progress, an interactive event in ACT on 6 April 2024 with a great success to highlight the importance of investing in and valuing women in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering & Mathematics) to accelerate progress and drive gender equality. This Symposium was organised to celebrate IWiN’s 11th Annual International Women’s Day, in partnership with Capital Region Community Services Centre (CRCS) and proudly supported by Telstra, South Asian Federation ACT (SAFACT) and Multicultural Hub (MHUB), Canberra.
  • IWiN hosted a very successful Lunch Session to MEET CALD Women Candidates: ACT Election 2024 on 14 September 2024 to introduce the aspiring women candidates for various political parties, including ACT Labor, ACT Liberals, Greens of ACT and Independents For Canberra.
  • IWiN is about to launch a new social enterprise project, Orange Skirt in 2024, to create job/small business for disadvantaged women (upto 20 for the pilot) coming from culturally and linguistically diverse (CALD) background, in partnership with organisations providing migrant services, registered training organisation, local businesses and other peak community organisation from ACT.
  • IWiN has been organising annual community awareness events to observe ORANGE Day (International Day For Elimination of Violence Against Women and Girls) since 2015. Accordingly, IWiN delivered its 9th ORANGE Day Symposium on 25 November 2023 to discuss how to reduce violence at home and outside against women in the CALD communities, in collaboration with peak community organisations and support service providers. IWiN's 10th ORANGE Day Symposium is scheduled for 7 December 2024.
