About this event

  • Event lasts 2 hours

Join Hannah Condie and Cate Storey for a fun and educational workshop on reptiles and how to create reptile-friendly gardens, perfect for kids and families.

Note: Tickets are required only for attending children; each child ticket includes accompanying adult/s. Each child must be accompanied by a responsible adult.

Hannah Condie, a key member of the B4C field crew and our resident reptile expert, will guide you through the fascinating world of reptiles. Hannah is the proud owner of two pet snakes: Zuko, a Black-headed Python, and Luna, a Rough-scaled Python.

Reptiles play a crucial role in maintaining a healthy garden ecosystem. Common reptiles found in Brisbane gardens include Blue-tongue Skinks, Carpet Pythons, Water Dragons, Legless Lizards, and Eastern Water Skinks. These creatures are vital middle-order predators that help keep our natural ecosystems balanced.

During the workshop, Hannah will share insights on supporting backyard reptiles and introduce her pet snakes. Following her presentation, children will have the chance to delve into reptile biodiversity at the B4C Sustainability Centre through a reptile scavanger hunt and engage in reptile-themed crafts.

This workshop is proudly supported by Brisbane City Council’s Cultivating Garden’s Grant.

Bulimba Creek Catchment Coordinating Committee Inc. (B4C) was established as an incorporated catchment and landcare group in 1997. The success of our organisation has been achieved to a major degree by the efforts and outcomes of our services provided by the Ecosystem Services Unit.

As a Social Enterprise, we reinvest the majority of our profits in supporting the environment and the community.

Our activities with the community are undertaken through education and school projects, supporting bushcare groups when requested and by providing the community opportunities to be involved in tree planting, weeding and working on waterways and bushlands.

Our office is located at our Sustainability Centre in Carindale.
