Have you ever looked at Leura Village and considered why the buildings are from the Federation Period? It's like the village was kept in a time warp for 100 years.
Join Mountains Tales for a 2-hour walk through the history and Story of Leura. We will begin the tour in the late Victorian period, who was the original town planner and what was his vision? Who travelled to Leura in the early days and what was the attraction?
Leura was established as a Mountain Retreat for Sydney’s wealthy, they would escape the heat and humidity of summer, to arrive, by steam train, to BREATHE THE AIR!
Visitors may have built a family holiday home, or stayed at one of our famous hotels and guesthouses. Soon the village was growing with permanent residents and businesses.
As we walk around the village we will discuss the stories of the people, places and events that shaped Leura's character and the legacy we now enjoy.
Your guide, Sue is a Leura Local, she is happy to offer you suggestions for a great meal; a local shop for a special gift or assist you with any other questions to make the most of your stay in the Blue Mountains.
